Philippe Chevarin - Les Alouettes 2019
Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc / Melon de Bourgogne
The Sauvignon Blanc brings the fruit at the front, the Melon filling out the back. Guava and Turkish delight moving to pineapple, then lime splice. The tropical intertwined with acidity, then pears come to the fore. Minerality and beautiful freshness. Like a driver at Le Mans, driving around the bends and hugging the curves. The finish is dry and savoury.
80% Sauvignon Blanc, fruit from his neighbour Jacques Fevrier, and 20% Melon de Bourgogne. Direct press, 7 months on lees, sulphur at bottling.
