Dry, flavoursome and complex white wine from the hills of western Emilia Romagna. Tropical and vibrant aromas alongside notes of wild herbs, orange blossom and citrus. A ripe but fresh wine, smooth with great length. Really good.
Fermented in stainless with a 5 month elevage.
La Tosa was founded by two brothers, Stefano and Ferruccio Pizzamiglio. Originally form Milan, they initially intended to become doctors like their father before deciding instead to get in to wine (this is all sounding eerily familiar - Julian). The brothers bought land near the town of Vigolzone (where their mother originated) in Colli Piacentini, with their first release being in 1985. They were amongst the first in the region to follow the minimal intervention path.
The estate sits alongside the forested hills of the Piacenza region. The estate is organic and the focus is on varieties native to the area. The family are passionate about the region and its vinicultural history, going so far as to set up a regional wine museum in 2015.
