In 2014 Joan Rubio decided to make the transition to take over the family vineyards and produce wine from the estate fruit rather than selling the grapes. Up until then, Joan had been at Recaredo for 14 years, during which time he was the driving force in converting the 50 hectare estate to Biodynamic farming, which they still continue to this day.
Cal Tiques lies 15 km from the Mediterranean Sea, their 6.5 hectares have been certified Biodynamic since 2009. These handcrafted wines are some of the purest, most focused and alive wines I have come across in Spain.
Bright and aromatic, with an interesting blend of bright fruit, cola and kitchen herb notes. Very tasty. Medium bodied but feels lighter and more refreshing than most Tempranillos.
