Anne Sophie Dubois - Fleurie l'Alchimiste 2019
Region: Fleurie / Beaujolais
Delicious and elegant Beaujolais from a great producer. Juicy red fruits combined with notes of herb and lavender. Fine and mineral on the palate, complex but so drinkable.
Anne-Sophie’s vineyards are some of the highest-elevation sites in Fleurie, which itself is one of the highest-elevation Cru Villages in Beaujolais. Anne-Sophie has been farming her 18 parcels of organic vines (all within the lieu dit of Les Labourons) since 2006, having taken over her family estate at the age of 23. The approach is minimal with sulphur at bottling the only addition.
The name of this wine was inspired by the book 'The Alchemist' by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. Sourced from 40+ year-old vines within the Lieu Dit.
Partial whole cluster fermentation. Aged for 10 months in a combination of vat & in a larger, seasoned oak barrels. Anne mentions she picks the site with the ‘deepest juice’ for this cuvee. Bottled unfined & unfiltered.
