FLEURIE / BEAUJOLAIS
Domaine Marc Delienne is a small estate in the south-eastern corner of Fleurie, Beaujolais. Marc bought the vineyard in 2015, leaving behind his life and career in Paris. His desire is to make wines that are alive, as opposed to the dead classical wines he grew up drinking (with a stint at Domaine de Trevallon on the way).
The farming here is certified organic with biodynamic philosophies. The soils are ancient sandy granite loam with vine age around 40-80 years. One of the unique aspects of these vineyards is the high trellising (as opposed to the regions traditional goblet training). Marc’s site is on one of the warmer sites in Fleurie and he changed his trellising to give better shade during the summer months.
Everything is minimal in the winery. Full carbonic or semi-carbonic fermentation in concrete vats with gentle pump overs followed by extended elevage in large old foudres. Sulphite additions are minimal with none added in some cuvees.
