Les Poete - Pouilly Fume 2019
Region: Centre / Loire Valley
Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc
An excellent Sauvignon from Pouilly Fume. Dry and mineral with plenty of fruit balanced by a chalky texture. Notes of lime, grapefruit and melon with notes of smoky flint on the finish. A great example of Pouilly Fume and totally delicious.
Guillaume Sorbe is one of the genuine stars of the Loire Valley, his eclectic and precise wines receiving regular acclaim and considered the Haute Couture of the region. Starting in 2007, his small-scale, artisanal and biodynamic cultivation has made the small volumes he produces highly sought after. Domaine Les Poëte today comprises 25 small cultivation lots with a total area of just over four hectares, each individual location vinified separately. Guillaume Sorbe produces wines in three of the Loire Valley's appellations: Reuilly, Touraine and Quincy. In Quincy, he makes white wine from Sauvignon Blanc, which grows on light soils of sand and gravel. He grows also some incredible Pinot Noir and we had a small allocation of that. Guillaume’s ethos – “moins mais mieux” – less but better.
